LeBron James may yet take the court for Team USA once more. Speaking on his podcast "The Hoop Collective," Brian Windhorst said: "If LeBron wants to play, he'll get a roster spot." Windhorst, who has covered James since his high school days in Akron, Ohio, made clear the decision rests entirely with the 40-year-old star.

James, who won gold medals in 2008, 2012 and 2024 and was named Olympic MVP after leading Team USA to gold in Paris, had previously stated last November: "You already know my answer. I will be watching it," ruling out participation in the 2028 Games. However, with Los Angeles being his adopted home city and the Games taking place on American soil, it's viewed as a tempting opportunity for the finale of his career.

James, who will be 43 by the time the Olympics arrive, is expected to be in game shape if he plays out both seasons of his newly signed two-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. A recent ESPN roster projection for 2028 featured names such as Anthony Edwards, Jayson Tatum, Cade Cunningham, Tyrese Haliburton and Cooper Flagg, while notably omitting stars like Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid and Devin Booker.
