PSG are closing in on another key target of the summer transfer window. According to Fabrizio Romano, the French giants have real expectations of signing Monaco's 24-year-old star Maghnes Akliouche, who has already given verbal agreement to the move to Paris.
The figure driving the deal is head coach Luis Enrique. The Spaniard spoke directly with Akliouche, whom he came to admire through PSG's two Champions League meetings with Monaco this season. Following that conversation, Enrique asked sporting director Luis Campos to close the deal as quickly as possible.
A graduate of Monaco's academy who has worn the club's colours since 2021, Akliouche contributed seven goals and eleven assists in 43 appearances last season. A France international, he has found limited minutes in a crowded World Cup squad but has not gone unnoticed by PSG. Monaco, meanwhile, are open to a sale amid budget pressure from the DNCG, with fee negotiations reportedly in the €50-70 million range.
The deal's most significant link is tied to Lee Kang-in's fate. By selling the South Korean to Atletico Madrid, PSG will free up both a squad slot and the funds to help finance the Akliouche move. As Kang-in's departure firms up, the Akliouche file is said to be gathering pace, with an official announcement potentially arriving once the player's World Cup campaign concludes.
