Christopher Vivell, the club's head of scouting, is reported to be in close contact with the player's representatives. This direct line of communication shows United's determination over a midfield reinforcement. According to the report, La Liga giants Real Madrid are also among the clubs monitoring Nmecha's situation; head coach Jose Mourinho is said to admire the player's profile.

This sudden interest in Nmecha is the result of his high-level performances for Germany at the World Cup. Contributing goals and assists in the first two group games, the midfielder showcased his ability to influence games at the highest level.
