Marcus Rashford latest and the Fenerbahce claims

An unexpected correction has arrived in one of the most talked-about files of the summer transfer window. Fabrizio Romano firmly denied earlier reports claiming Fenerbahce officials had flown to Manchester to open talks and were preparing an official approach: "Marcus Rashford has zero plans to move to Turkey this summer, zero talks with Fenerbahce. He's returning for pre-season at Man Utd as Carrick wants to work with him. Rashford can still leave Man Utd but only in case of a top club bid."

The Italian journalist expanded on the matter on his YouTube channel. "Many reports, guys, but my understanding is that there is nothing between Marcus Rashford and Fenerbahce. No negotiations, no conversations, also because, with all due respect to Fenerbahce, Rashford is not considering a move to Turkey at this stage of his career," said Romano, stressing that the player's priority was clear: "Rashford is obviously focused on the World Cup. After the World Cup, he will assess the situation at Manchester United."

The picture on the club's side has also become clear. "From my understanding, Michael Carrick is looking forward to working with Marcus Rashford. He wants to be with Rashford in pre-season to see the attitude, to see the feelings, and then decide whether he's going to stay or leaving the club in August," Romano said, noting that the player's future ultimately rests on the head coach's observations.

Rashford's recent story helps explain this uncertainty. The 28-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Barcelona before the Spanish club opted not to trigger their £26 million buy option and sent him back, is reported to still be of interest to Tottenham. On Manchester United's side, Crysencio Summerville could come into play should Rashford depart; it is also noted that his remaining at the club would make that deal harder to complete.
