Mikel Arteta handed huge right-back list: 10 candidates

Arsenal are conducting a wide-ranging search to strengthen the right side of their defence this summer. According to TeamTalk, the club have prepared an extensive list of ten right-back targets to present to head coach Mikel Arteta as they prepare for the possibility of Ben White leaving the Emirates. The list was compiled under the leadership of sporting director Andrea Berta.

White, who ended last season with a serious knee injury, is increasingly likely to depart, with reports suggesting a move abroad is the more probable outcome. Despite that uncertainty, Arsenal are pressing ahead with plans to add competition and cover for Jurrien Timber at right-back.

Among the standout names on the list are Barcelona's experienced defender Jules Kounde, Real Madrid's Raul Asencio, Celta Vigo's Oscar Mingueza, who is set to become a free agent, and RB Leipzig's Lutsharel Geertruida. The club have also explored younger profiles, including Roma's Wesley, Monaco's Vanderson, Feyenoord's Givairo Read and Sporting's Ivan Fresneda. Newcastle's Tino Livramento is seen as an exciting option too, though his injury history and a likely world-record asking price have put that move on the back burner for now.

The most surprising name on the list, however, is former Manchester United defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka. Expected to become available following West Ham's relegation to the Championship, the 28-year-old DR Congo international also caught the eye with his World Cup performances. The move is generating significant internal discussion at Arsenal but remains far from confirmed, with the club continuing to weigh up its options among the candidates.
