MILAN CONFESSION FROM FRANCESCO TOTTI YEARS LATER

Corriere Dello Sport, one of the leading newspapers of the Italian sports press, conveys the special statements of Roma's legendary captain Francesco Totti that created a massive resonance in the football world to its readers. The Italian legend shared a highly critical transfer story he experienced in his childhood years, which completely changed the course of his career, so clearly for the first time after long years. Ariedo Braida, the Milan director of the period, went personally to the legendary player's house to add Totti, who attracted all the attention upon himself with his extraordinary talent on the green pitches when he was just 12 years old, to their squad. The red-black club spent a great effort to bring this young talent to its academy. However, the young player's family definitely did not approve of their child leaving home at that age and settling in a different city, and this historical transfer did not happen. Totti, who remembers those days with great maturity when he looks back today, clearly shows his great respect for the Italian giant in the special interview he gave by using the words, "If I left Roma, I would want to go to Milan. Even though I did not fully support Milan as a child, it was a team that impressed me. Especially Sacchi's Milan and the eras of the 3 Dutchmen impressed me." The legendary name, who used quite harsh and thought-provoking expressions not only about his own career and transfer history but also about today's fan culture, made important determinations about the course of modern football. Totti brought a very clear and staggering criticism to the success-oriented fan profile today by saying, "If you support big teams instead of supporting the team of your own city or region, it means you love winning, not football." These deep and sincere statements of Totti, which reflect his own inner world and football philosophy, will be discussed heatedly among football romantics for a long time and will continue to occupy the sports agenda in Italy. This pure passion the legendary name feels for football will always be a massive source of inspiration for the future generations.
