Milan lodge official bid: target Gonçalo Ramos

Serie A giants AC Milan have moved to strengthen their attack and set their sights on Paris Saint-Germain's Portuguese striker Gonçalo Ramos. Per Fabrizio Romano, Milan have lodged their official bid with the French club for the player they have identified as their number one target. Negotiations with the player's agent Jorge Mendes over personal terms are also ongoing.

Per Romano's information, the race for Gonçalo Ramos has heated up, with clubs other than Milan also chasing the player. But the side that looks furthest ahead right now is Milan, who are reshaping their squad under their new head coach. Per the Italian press, PSG are asking for around €40 million for the player they signed from Benfica for around €65 million in 2023. Milan need to get close to the fee set by PSG to complete this transfer.

Gonçalo Ramos put in an effective performance last season despite mostly remaining on the bench under Luis Enrique. The 25-year-old Portuguese contributed 12 goals and a few assists in 45 games across all competitions; but mostly reached those numbers by coming off the bench. Behind names like Bradley Barcola, Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in Paris, the player, seeking a guaranteed starting spot again, is open to a departure.

It is stated that some plans are being made on Milan's side to finance this transfer. The Italian side are reported to be considering selling some players in their attack to build the budget needed for Ramos. The Portuguese striker offers significant flexibility in the head coach's system with his ability to play both as a lone striker and in supporting attacking positions. PSG and Milan representatives are expected to sit down in the coming days, with talks set to intensify. Clubs like Atletico Madrid and Juventus are also said to be following the player closely.
