The intense squad competition brought about by Real Madrid's summer transfer business is turning into a difficult picture for certain players. According to AS, head coach Jose Mourinho wants to trim an increasingly crowded midfield and defence; to that end, he has made clear that Eduardo Camavinga, Ferland Mendy and Raul Asencio do not feature in his current plans.
According to the report, there are three options at left-back — Marc Cucurella, Alvaro Carreras and Ferland Mendy — with Mendy considered the most likely to depart given his injury history. At centre-back, among Dean Huijsen, Antonio Rudiger, Ibrahima Konate and Raul Asencio, Mourinho is said to have personally told the young Canary Islands-born defender he is not part of his plans, with his agent Jorge Mendes reportedly seeking him a new club.
It's emphasised that Rodri's arrival has further crowded a midfield already featuring Federico Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga; Camavinga has told the club he will not leave despite being warned his opportunities will diminish. According to the report, with Valverde and Jude Bellingham considered untouchable in the squad, Camavinga is said to be the most vulnerable of the three midfielders. Mourinho is said to want to trim the squad by roughly four or five players, with this process expected to affect more names in the coming weeks.
