Mudryk's New Destination: Strasbourg

Chelsea are drawing up a plan to reshape the career of long-absent Ukrainian winger Mykhailo Mudryk. According to Foot Mercato, the 25-year-old had been provisionally suspended since November 2024 following an adverse finding for meldonium; the case has now been resolved with the FA, clearing him to return to action immediately. With Chelsea not planning to rely on him in the short term due to the case, the club is now weighing its options for his future.

According to the report, while a loan to a Premier League club was initially rumoured as a way to help Mudryk regain fitness, Chelsea's preference has settled on Strasbourg. The French club, part of the same BlueCo ownership group as Chelsea, offers Mudryk a familiar environment while gaining a player capable of adding pace and unpredictability to their attack. A source close to Chelsea said: "There is a possibility that Mykhailo Mudryk will go to Strasbourg. He would surely have the humility to accept this challenge after almost two years without playing, if he is offered a loan."

Mudryk, who joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk in a mammoth deal worth around €100 million in 2022 and remains under contract until 2031, is set to have his physical condition thoroughly assessed by the club before a final decision is made. With the squad already crowded following the arrivals of Danny Welbeck and Morgan Rogers this summer, it's noted that guaranteed playing time under Xabi Alonso would be extremely difficult to secure at Stamford Bridge.
