Myles Lewis-Skelly Offered to Chelsea and Manchester United

Arsenal's crowded midfield has put young star Myles Lewis-Skelly's future in the spotlight. According to Ben Jacobs, Lewis-Skelly has been offered to both Manchester United and Chelsea through intermediaries. Jacobs wrote: "Myles Lewis-Skelly has been offered to Manchester United and Chelsea. Not a new link with either club, but fresh contact with both following the arrival of Bruno Guimaraes. Arsenal rewarded Lewis-Skelly with a new deal last summer."

According to the report, this unexpected situation stems from the midfield congestion created by Arsenal's £75 million signing of Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle. With Declan Rice, Martin Zubimendi, Martin Odegaard, Mikel Merino and now Guimaraes in the squad, it's noted there is little room left for Lewis-Skelly. The 19-year-old, who can also play at left-back, is said to be squeezed on both fronts, with Riccardo Calafiori and new signing Piero Hincapie also capable of filling that position.

It's recalled that Lewis-Skelly, who delivered a strong enough performance last season to earn a starting spot in the Champions League final and has featured as a defensive midfielder in recent pre-season matches, has a contract running until 2030. It's noted that Chelsea had tracked the player before his breakthrough at Arsenal and admire his tactical adaptability, while Manchester United view him as an alternative to Luke Shaw and a source of additional energy in midfield. It's emphasised that while Arsenal would typically be reluctant to part with one of their brightest academy talents, the shift in squad hierarchy has created a genuine sale opportunity.
