A fresh claim has emerged from Argentina regarding Mauro Icardi's uncertain future at Galatasaray. According to journalist Martín Arévalo, the Argentine striker's name has been proposed to Boca Juniors president Juan Roman Riquelme. It's worth noting that Icardi's name had previously been floated to River Plate, though that approach came to nothing.
The report notes that Boca Juniors' priority this transfer window remains Paulo Dybala. However, the club is also said to be closely monitoring Icardi's situation, with his contract at Galatasaray set to expire in June 2026. The Argentine forward's current market value has dropped to around €4 million, and Boca could reportedly consider signing him on a free transfer if the right conditions materialise.
The possibility of Icardi returning to Argentina has surfaced before, though it previously sparked controversy after his partner, Eugenia Suárez, said: "If he comes back, he's going to River — Boca is absolutely forbidden." Icardi himself avoided a direct answer at the time, saying: "I'm a Newell's fan, so I have nothing to do with that." This latest development marks a concrete step from Boca's camp, and it remains to be seen whether the move will actually materialise.
