New Development for Romelu Lukaku: Fenerbahce Back in the Picture

Encouraging news has emerged for Besiktas and Fenerbahce, both searching for a new striker, regarding Romelu Lukaku. Speaking to NTV, journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu said the Belgian forward is close to a move to the Super Lig. Sabuncuoglu commented: "Romelu Lukaku was offered to Besiktas around a month ago. Lukaku wants to come to the Super Lig, he clearly wants to come. We may be in the season where the chances of this happening are the closest they've been in recent times. I don't know where he'll end up right now, but just as he was offered to Besiktas, he's also been offered to Fenerbahce."

The 33-year-old striker's name continues to be linked with both fierce rivals throughout this process. According to an earlier report from Italian outlet Il Mattino, Fenerbahce had already made inquiries about Lukaku's transfer terms after deciding their pursuit of Alexander Sorloth for the attack was unlikely to materialise. It's also worth recalling that Trabzonspor made a concrete offer to the player in recent weeks, though the approach was not warmly received by the Belgian star.

Lukaku, who made six appearances for Belgium at the 2026 World Cup, contributing three goals and an assist before the team was eliminated by Spain in the quarterfinals, still has an uncertain future at Napoli. Having seen limited playing time last season due to ongoing injury struggles, the forward's agent, Federico Pastorello, previously stated: "Can he sit on the bench at Napoli? It would be hard for us to accept such a situation" — a comment seen as reinforcing the idea that the player is open to leaving this summer.
