Not in Allegri's plans? A departure signal for De Bruyne

The future of the star Napoli brought in with a major investment last summer is now shadowed by unexpected uncertainty. According to Nicolo Schira, Kevin De Bruyne could leave Napoli this summer; despite having 1+1 years remaining on his contract, he doesn't hold a significant role in Max Allegri's plans.

Schira elaborated on this claim. On X, he stated: "Kevin De Bruyne could leave Napoli this summer. KDB has a contract until 2027 (€6.5m/year) plus an option for 2028, but he doesn't seem central to Max's plans."

This claim directly contradicts the assurance given publicly by the club's management. Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna emphasised at a recent press conference that De Bruyne remains part of the project: "He has not yet spoken to Allegri, we await him at pre-season training. He was an important investment for us, and delivered less than his potential, but is still part of the project."

Behind this uncertainty also lies the player's difficult period at Napoli. According to Football Italia, the Belgian's agents are reported to be searching for a new destination, with interest coming from Turkey and Saudi Arabia; it is recalled that the player did not feel comfortable during his time at Napoli, having been kept off the pitch for an extended period by a serious injury, and struggled to adapt to Antonio Conte's defence-focused tactical approach.

The club's financial situation could also reinforce this scenario. Having joined Napoli as a free agent from Manchester City last summer, the 35-year-old is reported to potentially be allowed to leave for a nominal fee due to the club's Financial Fair Play constraints.

Meanwhile, the player's short-term plans also continue. De Bruyne is recalled to be expected to join Napoli's training camp in Castel di Sangro on August 5, also taking part in the club's centenary celebrations.
