Nottingham Forest Want Manchester City's Tijjani Reijnders

Nottingham Forest have approached Manchester City in their search for a strong addition to midfield. According to Sky Sports, the club's management is putting in serious effort to sign Dutch international Tijjani Reijnders, who has become one of head coach Oliver Glasner's priority targets. It's recalled that the 28-year-old midfielder, who joined Manchester City from Milan last season for a fee reported at €46 million (also reported as €55 million), did not fully live up to expectations in his first season.

According to the report, Nottingham Forest are working with a valuation of around £55 million for the deal, though Manchester City are said to be pushing for closer to £60 million — a figure that reportedly proved too steep for Atletico Madrid's interest earlier in the window. It's emphasised that Nottingham Forest, who secured a significant budget following the £116 million sale of Elliot Anderson to City, have the financial strength to fund this pursuit.

According to a UEFA rule outlined by Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, if another paid transfer takes place between the two clubs within 45 days of the Anderson deal, it could be classified as a "swap deal," potentially preventing Forest from fully accounting for the profit from Anderson's sale. As a result, it's noted that Forest could consider structuring the Reijnders deal initially as a loan with a clause requiring a certain number of appearances. Having made 50 appearances across all competitions last season with seven goals and eight assists, but suffering a dip in form during the second half of the campaign, Reijnders' uncertain long-term future at Manchester City is said to have fuelled the growing interest.
