Official: Summerville joins Al-Hilal

A months-long transfer file has finally become official. Al-Hilal have officially announced that Crysencio Summerville has joined the club; the transfer fee was announced as €65 million plus €12 million in bonuses.

This marks the final official outcome of a file we covered earlier. West Ham accepted Al-Hilal's offer despite interest from Roma (€46 million) and enquiries from Manchester United and Aston Villa; according to Sky Sports, Roma's £39 million (€46 million) offer submitted on July 20 was rejected, while United were unable to progress talks until Marcus Rashford was sold.

The course of the fee negotiation has also become clear. Al-Hilal's late offer, reported to be nearly double Roma's initial proposal, was quickly accepted by West Ham.

The historic significance of this sale for West Ham is also considerable. It is recalled that this sale marks the third-highest transfer fee in the club's history, following Declan Rice's move to Arsenal and Mateus Fernandes' transfer to Tottenham; it is emphasised that, following relegation, West Ham will have raised more than £150 million in total from Summerville and Fernandes this summer.

The player's new environment at Al-Hilal is also notable. Having signed a long-term four-year contract, the 24-year-old Dutch winger is reported to be joining Simone Inzaghi's squad at Al-Hilal alongside names such as Ruben Neves, Karim Benzema and Theo Hernandez.

The player's recent form also explains the background to this transfer. Summerville is recalled to have contributed 7 goals and 5 assists in 34 appearances for West Ham last season, and featured in all four of the Netherlands' matches at the 2026 World Cup, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists.
