Paris Saint-Germain have added an experienced name to their defensive line. In an official statement, the French club announced Digne's return, saying: "Paris Saint-Germain is delighted to announce the return of Lucas Digne. The French international defender has signed for the capital club until 2029. He will wear the number 12 shirt."
It's noted that the 33-year-old had previously worn the PSG shirt after joining from Lille in the summer of 2013, making 44 appearances and providing five assists during his first spell in the capital, during which he won two French league titles, one Coupe de France, two League Cups and three Trophées des Champions. Having gone on to play for Roma, Barcelona, Everton and most recently Aston Villa, Digne is said to have played a key role in Aston Villa's 2026 UEFA Europa League triumph.
Digne, who moved to PSG via a release clause in his Aston Villa contract worth around €7 million, is said to be viewed by head coach Luis Enrique and sporting director Luis Campos as an experienced option to provide cover for Nuno Mendes. Capped 64 times for France since 2014 and part of the squad at the 2026 World Cup, Digne is set to begin training with PSG on Monday and could even feature against his former club Aston Villa in this Wednesday's UEFA Super Cup.
