Defending champions Galatasaray, who aimed to start the 2026-2027 Trendyol Super Lig season with a victory, stunned their fans with a 2-2 draw against league newcomers Çorum FK in the opening match. Stepping in front of the cameras after the match, manager Okan Buruk addressed the inconsistency on the pitch and the goals conceded, while clearly stating that their championship ambitions remain unchanged. Although Buruk noted that his team dominated the overall gameplay, he admitted that they paid a heavy price for a momentary loss of concentration.

The experienced tactician instilled confidence in the fans with his words: "We started by not winning, but God willing, we will continue by winning, and Galatasaray will be the team that becomes champion at the end of the season. No one should have any doubt about this." Analyzing the match tactically, Buruk expressed satisfaction with the high-pressing game in the first half but highlighted the finishing problems: "We did good things in the first half, we created chances, but we couldn't score. Generally, we played close to scoring." His criticism of the defensive discipline was the most striking part of the night. Emphasizing that the game shifted in just two minutes, Buruk reacted to the goals conceded, saying, "We allowed them to shoot from 30 meters as if we thought they wouldn't score from there." While noting that such accidents can happen in football, Okan Buruk refreshed his confidence in his players by adding, "But these exist in football; they will happen."
