The U.S. Soccer Federation has secured long-term stability at the helm of its men's national team following the country's home World Cup. In an official statement, the federation announced a new agreement with Mauricio Pochettino running through the 2030 World Cup. The Argentine coach, who took charge in September 2024, said: "Working together with U.S. Soccer over the past two years, it has become clear to us that there is tremendous potential to make the Men's National Team program even stronger."
Under Pochettino, the USMNT won its group at the 2026 World Cup and advanced through the round of 32, before being eliminated in the round of 16 by Belgium. U.S. Soccer President Cindy Parlow Cone said: "Mauricio has built a culture where players trust the group, trust the process and trust each other. We saw the impact of that belief in the way the team grew, competed and performed on the world's biggest stage."
Under the new deal, Pochettino and his coaching staff will not be limited to the senior team alone, extending their influence to youth soccer, coaching education and professional league collaboration across U.S. Soccer's broader structure. Since October 2024, Pochettino has capped 62 players from 16 different leagues across 12 countries, with his overall record standing at 17 wins, two draws and 12 losses. Longtime staff members Jesus Perez, Miguel D'Agostino and Toni Jimenez, along with Sebastian Pochettino and Silvia Tuya, are set to remain part of the coaching setup.
