Premier League queue for Bardghji: four in talks

The future of Barcelona's young talent Roony Bardghji has landed on the agenda of Premier League clubs. According to TeamTalk, Sunderland have opened talks to sign the 20-year-old Swedish winger. Following Barcelona's decision to move the player on after their summer business, Bardghji's representatives made contact with Sunderland.

The race is not limited to Sunderland. According to reports, Leeds United, Aston Villa and Everton have also held talks with the player's camp. Sunderland, meanwhile, are yet to submit an official offer. A transfer race with four Premier League clubs simultaneously at the table has thus taken shape; Brighton and Brentford had also previously been reported to have checked on the player's situation.

Behind Barcelona's decision lies the congestion in their attacking line. At the Catalan giants, who have signed Anthony Gordon and are closing in on the transfer of Karim Adeyemi, opportunities for the young player are expected to become even more limited. Having joined Barcelona from FC Copenhagen last summer for a bargain fee of around £2 million in the final months of his contract, Bardghji found limited minutes in his first season due to Hansi Flick's extensive attacking options; the Swedish player featured in 26 matches, starting only seven of them.

Regarded as one of the most exciting young attackers in European football, Bardghji's own preference is reported to be a loan formula that would keep his path back to Barcelona open. However, the Catalan club's openness to a permanent sale is whetting the appetite of his suitors. Which club will become the young star's new home will become clear in the coming weeks.
