PSG and Monaco at the table: Akliouche deal nearing

One of PSG's most concrete attacking files of the summer window is approaching its conclusion. According to Fabrizio Romano, Paris Saint-Germain remain in active talks to sign Monaco's French midfielder Maghnes Akliouche, with the deal proceeding. Romano noted that details still need to be sorted out, but that Akliouche wants the move — as he himself revealed back in June — with talks underway and PSG confident.

The background to this file is lengthy and detailed. According to an earlier report from RMC Sport, Akliouche had already agreed personal terms with PSG while still representing France at the World Cup; according to Fabrice Hawkins, that agreement covers a five-year contract.

The timing of the transfer also carries strategic context. PSG are reported to have accelerated this move immediately after completing the transfer of Lee Kang-in to Atletico Madrid for a fee including bonuses of around €40 million, with Akliouche viewed as his replacement.

There is also clarity on the fee. According to a report from theScore citing AFP, the fee under discussion is expected to reach around €70 million, with talks described as "going well."

The player's performances justify this intense interest. A product of Monaco's academy who has made 139 appearances for the club and earned 10 caps for France, the 24-year-old contributed to 18 goals (7 goals, 11 assists) in 43 matches across all competitions last season. A departure was also mooted last summer but failed to materialise due to Monaco's high asking price; this time the club is reported to be willing to let him go. It is also noted that PSG completing this transfer could impact Bradley Barcola's potential move to Liverpool.
