Rahul, Jaiswal Train Against Spin

The Indian National Cricket Team continues its preparations at full speed before embarking on their challenging tour of Sri Lanka. Ahead of the two-match Test series in Sri Lanka, star batters KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal participated in a special training program against spin bowling in Mumbai. This series, a critical part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle, begins in Galle on August 15. Since the ball is expected to turn significantly in Sri Lankan conditions, with spinners likely dictating the course of the match, this move by the players holds great strategic importance.

Under the supervision of former cricketer Jatin Paranjape at the Wings Sports Centre in Bandra, the players had the opportunity to test themselves against all types of spin bowling. These rehearsals are vital to avoid mistakes, especially on the island's humid and spin-friendly pitches. According to Cricbuzz, these sessions were completed successfully.

Additionally, net bowlers have been selected to assist the batters during their practice sessions in Sri Lanka. Mumbai's talented Tanush Kotian and Vidarbha's Harsh Dubey will travel with the team. Young spin talents like Vipraj Nigam and Shivang Kumar have also been included. They will bowl to the Indian batters alongside experienced spinners like Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav. The team is scheduled to depart on a charter flight on Tuesday evening. Indian officials are leaving nothing to chance against Sri Lanka's challenging spin conditions, a determination that will be crucial in India's championship campaign.
