Real Madrid Hit By Yann Diomande Shock

What was billed as Real Madrid's marquee summer signing has hit an unexpected snag. Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano recently declared the Yann Diomande deal complete, stating the winger would fly to Madrid this week for medical tests. However, Sky Sport Germany correspondent Florian Plettenberg reports that no final agreement has actually been reached between the two clubs.

According to Plettenberg, talks are ongoing but several details around the payment structure and transfer fee remain unresolved. RB Leipzig are said to be firm on not letting the player travel to Madrid until a complete agreement is in place. Diomande, for his part, has continued training in Leipzig under a carefully managed workload to avoid any injury risk that could jeopardise the move. The fee under discussion is believed to sit between €120 and €130 million.

Complicating matters further is a registration issue at Real Madrid. Under La Liga rules, clubs can register a maximum of 25 players on professional contracts, and Madrid are already at 24. Both Diomande and Manchester City midfielder Rodri, who is also being negotiated for, would need space to be created elsewhere in the squad, a situation further complicated by Raul Asencio's recent injury.

PSG and Liverpool have already seen their bids rejected, and Diomande is reportedly fully committed to a move to the Bernabeu. Still, until the clubs iron out the remaining financial details, the deal cannot be formally confirmed.
