The possibility of Curtis Jones — the midfielder Liverpool raised through their academy and fielded in 224 matches — leaving the club is becoming increasingly concrete. The most trusted name in transfer reporting Fabrizio Romano said on the "Here We Go" podcast that Jones's current contract expires in summer 2027 and that the new agreement talks have "been stalling for months." In his latest social-media update, Romano put it plainly: "Curtis Jones could leave Liverpool in the summer as talks over new deal have been stalling for months."
Inter Milan made a concrete approach for Jones in the January transfer window. According to Romano's reporting, the Italian side maintains its level of interest and is ready to add the Scouser to its squad provided the price tag is set. Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio also wrote that Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes met with Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio in Monte Carlo to put the transfer market on the table. Jones's name was among the topics that came up in that meeting.
According to Transfermarkt, the 25-year-old's market value sits around £30 million (approximately €35 million). Liverpool's minimum demand is reported to be in that vicinity. While Tottenham and Aston Villa are also said to be keeping Jones's name on their agenda on the Premier League front, Inter Milan stands out front in the current picture.
Romano made an interesting analogy: "Curtis Jones could be the new Scott McTominay in terms of going to Italy and exploding. McTominay was a squad player at Manchester United, went to Napoli, became Serie A champion, and redefined his player identity." Liverpool head coach Arne Slot is known not to fully trust Jones, and the player has stayed out of the starting XI for the past two seasons. Jones himself is reported to have become more open to changing clubs to get regular playing time. The decision could clarify in the first weeks of the summer transfer window; Inter Milan, however, intends to make a move provided the price remains specific.
