Fenerbahce have reached a happy conclusion in their long-running pursuit of a striker. According to Di Marzio, Romelu Lukaku has passed his medical for the yellow-and-navy blues, with an agreement reached with Napoli worth €6 million plus bonuses. The 33-year-old Belgian forward is expected to be in Istanbul this week.
According to the report, Fenerbahce placed particular emphasis on the player's physical condition during the transfer process, closely examining his medical records following the injury problems he faced last season. It's noted that Lukaku, who made just seven official appearances for Napoli last season, has fully recovered from his injuries, going on to feature in six matches for Belgium at the 2026 World Cup and scoring three goals. This performance is said to have boosted Fenerbahce's confidence in completing the deal.
It's noted that Fenerbahce president Aziz Yildirim personally took a leading role in the transfer process, with Lukaku, who reached personal terms with the club through his lawyer Sebastian Ledure, said to have long been waiting for the green light to move to Istanbul. Following the successful completion of the medical, the official signing ceremony is expected to take place in the coming days.
