Barcelona have been hit with major injury news during their preparations for the new season. According to Fabrizio Romano, 20-year-old Swedish winger Roony Bardghji has suffered a torn ACL and will be sidelined for the next 6-7 months. Romano wrote: "Barcelona winger Roony Bardghji has torn his ACL and will be out for the next 6-7 months. Terrible news for the Swedish winger who was about to leave on loan to get more minutes."
According to the report, this marks the second serious knee injury of Bardghji's career; the player suffered the same injury in May 2024 and missed 10 months of action for Copenhagen. It's noted that the incident occurred during training last Saturday, with the player leaving the pitch in tears before the diagnosis was confirmed following medical tests.
Having been described by head coach Hansi Flick, alongside Marc Casado, as being on the "exit ramp" and left out of recent pre-season matches, Bardghji had been expected to be sent out on loan to a club where he could secure more playing time. However, this serious injury now effectively renders any near-term transfer plans impossible. Bardghji, who joined from Copenhagen last summer for a few million euros and has scored two goals in 28 appearances for Barcelona, is recalled to have found limited playing time in the shadow of Lamine Yamal.
