Salah's agent complicates the deal: latest on Besiktas

Besiktas' biggest story of the summer window is facing a new obstacle. According to Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Mohamed Salah's agent Ramy Abbas is demanding a €7.5 million commission as part of a potential move to Besiktas.

The background to this demand has been rather turbulent. Besiktas president Serdal Adali previously claimed that Abbas had raised his commission demand to "unbelievable figures, reaching about 35%": "Such a percentage cannot be accepted under any circumstances and we do not believe that Salah is aware of these figures. Salah had given his approval for this transfer, and his agent initially responded positively to our offer. Salah spoke to our technical director and sporting director and gave his approval, but later, when it was written in the media that the transfer had been completed, the agent raised his financial demands."

Besiktas' counter-offer has also become clear. Adali is reported to have rejected this demand, insisting the commission should not exceed 12%, presenting this as a firm and non-negotiable offer.

The latest developments, however, carry a sign of easing tensions. According to an earlier report from Sozcu, Abbas showed flexibility in recent talks, agreeing to review his financial demands, with the two sides' positions moving closer and most of the contract terms clarified.

The broad outlines of the contract are also known. It is recalled that Salah is close to a one-year deal (with a second-season option) worth an annual salary of €12 million; Besiktas' management is reported to be preparing to announce the transfer as soon as a final agreement is reached.
