Self-Criticism from Bruno Fernandes: "We Repeated Last Season's Mistakes"

Manchester United's captain Bruno Fernandes made a very sincere and striking self-criticism following his team's 2-0 defeat away at Hull City in the opening week of the league. Stating that he found the fans' reaction completely normal after the disappointing football, the Portuguese star took responsibility by saying, "I understand the fans' anger. Touching upon the tactical deficiencies and repeated mistakes during the match, Fernandes drew attention to the team's away phobia and defensive weaknesses. The successful midfielder warned his teammates and the technical staff with the words, "Unfortunately, we made the same mistakes as last season. In every away game, we give the ball to the opponent more than necessary. Imagine, in the first 20 minutes, the goalkeeper was the player who met the ball the most. We need to press much more upfront. Also, we absolutely must work on set-piece sets. We shouldn't concede these types of simple goals because these kinds of teams hunt exactly for these throughout the match."
