Tebas Strongly Criticizes Infantino and FIFA World Cup

LaLiga President Javier Tebas made remarkably sharp statements regarding FIFA President Gianni Infantino and the organization's recent decisions. Explicitly stating that Infantino’s tenure at FIFA ought to come to an end, Tebas decisively expressed that the current management will in no way receive their support.

Addressing the structure of football organizations and tournament formats, Tebas strongly opposed FIFA's plans to expand the number of teams in the World Cup to 64. Emphasizing that they strictly reject such expansion steps, the experienced sports executive highlighted that the current picture and management approach cannot continue like this.

Tebas also harshly criticized the implementation of water breaks during World Cup matches, calling the situation "nonsense." Reminding that state-of-the-art air conditioning systems were active in the stadiums where matches were played, the LaLiga president mentioned that he even had to wear a jacket due to the cold while watching from the stands. He conveyed that giving water breaks in fully climate-controlled environments is illogical.

Expressing that water breaks are also utilized in the Spanish league but under vastly different conditions, Tebas recalled that in LaLiga, these breaks are only granted when the weather is extremely hot. Pointing out that these breaks are filled with advertisements in FIFA organizations, Tebas explicitly criticized FIFA's approach by stating that breaks given in Spain are never turned into commercial ad slots.
