Tottenham Eye Gakpo as Liverpool Hold Firm

Tottenham have once again turned to Liverpool in their search for attacking reinforcements. According to The Athletic, the club has formally registered its interest with Cody Gakpo's representatives, though no direct contact has yet been made with Liverpool and no official negotiations have begun. The report states: "Tottenham have also registered their interest with Cody Gakpo's representatives, but have yet to make contact with Liverpool or begin a formal negotiation."

Liverpool, for their part, have made clear they have no intention of selling Gakpo this summer. However, it's noted the club would assess his value in the context of the summer's transfer market, particularly following the high-profile moves of Elliot Anderson to Manchester City and Morgan Rogers to Chelsea, which have helped reset pricing for established attacking players. Gakpo, under contract with Liverpool until 2030, has his future tied to squad depth and the demands of new head coach Andoni Iraola.

Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi has already promised another "bomba" signing this summer, said to relate to a major attacking addition separate from their pursuit of Manchester City's Savinho. Anthony Gordon's roughly £69 million move from Newcastle to Barcelona has been cited as a benchmark that could see Liverpool set Gakpo's valuation at around £72 million. Arsenal, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have also previously been linked with the player.
