Tottenham in the race for Francisco Trincão

A development set to mark Tottenham Hotspur's summer transfer window is unfolding. According to TeamTalk, the English club has joined the race to sign Sporting Lisbon's Portuguese forward Francisco Trincão. Having strengthened their defence and midfield with important signings, Tottenham are now reported to be focused on their attack, aiming to revamp a frontline that failed to deliver as expected last season (2025/26).

The 26-year-old Trincão delivered a notable performance last season. Contributing 11 goals and 15 assists in 50 official matches for Sporting, the Portuguese player also gained Premier League experience through a previous loan spell at Wolverhampton. This experience stands out as one of the factors increasing Tottenham's interest in the player.

According to reports, Tottenham's biggest threat in this transfer is said to come from the Saudi Pro League. Financially powerful Al-Ahli are reported to be in advanced talks to sign Trincão as a replacement for Riyad Mahrez, having tabled an offer worth around €50 million. Sporting, meanwhile, are said to be protected by Trincão's long-term contract, which runs until June 2030 and includes a €60 million release clause.

Having returned to Europe after Portugal's elimination from the World Cup in the Round of 16 against Spain, Trincão's future is expected to become clearer in the coming days. Whether Tottenham can win this transfer race against Al-Ahli through the appeal of Premier League football will be watched with interest in the football world.
