Tottenham wrap up Sandro Tonali deal

One of the most notable midfield moves of the summer transfer window has been concluded. Tottenham have reached an agreement for the transfer of Newcastle's Italian midfielder Sandro Tonali. According to reports, the two clubs agreed on a £92.5m fee for the player plus performance-based add-ons rising to £7.5m.

According to reports, Tottenham raised their proposal after their initial offer was rejected and put a strong figure on the table. While it was stated that the deal could rise further in total with add-ons, it was reported that most of the fee will be paid upfront. Newcastle, who had previously emphasized they did not want to sell the 26-year-old, are said to have been won over after the offer came in.

Teams such as Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United were also reported to be interested, but Tottenham, following an aggressive transfer policy, won the race for the player. This transfer was Spurs' second major midfield move completed within 24 hours; the club had also reached an agreement with West Ham for Mateus Fernandes a day earlier.
