An unexpected twist has emerged in the Mohamed Salah transfer saga after his talks with Besiktas were suspended over financial disagreements. According to journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Trabzonspor's management opened official talks with the Egyptian star's agent on the morning of August 1 and submitted the club's first formal offer. The proposal reportedly includes a two-year contract and a staggering annual salary of €17 million.
Trabzonspor's leadership is said to be pushing hard to finalise the deal within a day or two, with the club targeting completion of the transfer by Monday. Talk of Salah joining the club first emerged on July 28, though club president Ertugrul Dogan initially denied the reports, stating "We have no connection to Salah, the claims are untrue." The situation has since escalated into formal contact between the two parties.
Meanwhile, Besiktas football director Onder Ozen previously confirmed his club had withdrawn from negotiations due to disagreements over image rights and agent commission. Salah's representative, Ramy Abbas, is reportedly weighing offers from Super Lig, MLS and Saudi Arabian clubs. Trabzonspor supporters have flooded social media with excitement following the news.
