Trossard bombshell from Besiktas: deal agreed

The development set to mark Besiktas's summer transfer window has arrived. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Turkish club is confident of sealing all details of the Leandro Trossard transfer within a few days. An agreement worth a total package of €20 million (€18 million plus €2 million in add-ons) has been reached with Arsenal, and the deal has also been confirmed by the English club.

As relayed by Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, the Belgian star has been offered a contract until 2029 plus a one-year option. The final step for the transfer's completion is Trossard's green light. Following the end of Belgium's World Cup campaign with a 2-1 quarterfinal defeat to Spain, the 31-year-old is expected to make his decision shortly.

Trossard delivered an impressive performance at the tournament, starting all of Belgium's matches; he scored twice in the 5-1 win over New Zealand and provided an assist in the 3-2 comeback victory against Senegal. His annual wages are reported to be in the region of €9 million.

Having joined Arsenal from Brighton in January 2023, the Belgian contributed 36 goals and 34 assists in 174 matches for the London club and played an important role in their first Premier League title since 2004. The experience of the player, who can operate across different attacking positions as well as the left wing, will add significant quality to Besiktas's frontline. Should the transfer become official, it will be the Turkish club's biggest transfer outlay since Orkun Kökçü. Developments will become clearer in the coming days.
