Tyrique George on his way to Everton

Everton are set to complete their second major signing of the summer transfer window. According to Ben Jacobs, the Merseyside club have agreed a deal worth up to £24 million with Chelsea for young winger Tyrique George, comprising an £18 million guaranteed fee plus £6 million in add-ons. Chelsea have also secured a 15 per cent sell-on clause as part of the agreement.

The 20-year-old English winger spent the second half of last season on loan at Goodison Park, making 11 appearances and impressing head coach David Moyes along the way. His on-pitch numbers were modest — he started just once and did not register a goal or assist — but George's energy and work-rate left a strong impression on the coaching staff. Moyes's praise for the player as "an excellent boy with an excellent work-rate" at the end of the loan spell helped pave the way for a permanent deal.

Rather than triggering the £25 million buy option included in the loan agreement, Everton renegotiated with Chelsea to bring the fee down. The add-ons are tied to performance triggers such as European qualification and the number of appearances George makes. A graduate of Chelsea's academy who has also represented England at U21 level, George held talks with RB Leipzig last summer, while a £22 million move to Fulham collapsed on deadline day in September 2025.

Following the arrival of Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough, George is set to become Moyes's second signing of the summer. With his game time at Chelsea shrinking after the club's heavy investment in forwards, Everton represents a fresh opportunity for the young winger.
