Walker Kessler to Lakers: 4 years, $130M

As the NBA offseason unfolds busily, the Los Angeles Lakers have made an important addition to their frontcourt. According to reports, the team has acquired center Walker Kessler, who plays for the Utah Jazz, via a sign-and-trade. It was stated that the player will sign a four-year, $130 million contract with the Lakers.

According to reports, the contract includes a player option for the fourth season and a full trade kicker. As part of the deal, it was stated that the Utah Jazz received unprotected first-round picks in 2031 and 2033 and first-round swap rights in 2028 and 2030 in return. Kessler, cited as one of the league's best shot blockers and rebounders, is expected to add defense and frontcourt strength alongside Lakers star Luka Dončić.

This move also opened the way for a series of transfers for the Los Angeles Lakers. According to reports, the team moved into a more financially flexible position after star player LeBron James decided to leave the club. With that flexibility, the Lakers also reached agreements with Sandro Mamukelashvili, Quentin Grimes and Collin Sexton during the same period. The team also sent Deandre Ayton to the Washington Wizards.

It was recalled that Kessler could play only five games last season due to shoulder surgery. The experienced center is expected to regain his health in the new season and contribute to the Lakers' defensive setup.
