Watzke comments on Haaland's love for Real Madrid

A notable comment about Erling Haaland's future has come from someone who knows the player well. Borussia Dortmund president Hans-Joachim Watzke, speaking to Diario AS, expressed the Norwegian star's admiration for Real Madrid. Having managed Haaland at Dortmund before his move to Manchester City in 2022, and having personally taken part in the talks at that time, Watzke stands out as a figure very close to the matter.

Watzke used the following words in his comments: "Erling loves Real Madrid and he doesn't hide it. I think that in a while, in two or three years, he'll play there, but not now. His time will come." The Dortmund president also emphasized with these words that the player has not made a firm commitment to anyone: "As his father has also said, he hasn't committed to anyone."

These comments came right after Haaland's impressive performance at the World Cup. The Norwegian forward, who carried his country to the quarterfinals for the first time in its history, played a critical role by scoring two goals in eliminating Brazil in the Round of 16. Haaland is also individually competing for the tournament's Golden Boot.

It is also recalled that the player's inner circle denied earlier claims that he had reached an agreement with a figure who had run for the Real Madrid presidency. Haaland, whose contract with Manchester City runs until 2034, is not expected to switch clubs during this summer's transfer window. Watzke's comments, while reviving speculation about the player's long-term future, do not point to any short-term change.
