Manchester United's search for a left-back continues with a new name in the frame. According to The Athletic, Newcastle United's firm "not for sale" response to United's initial approach for Lewis Hall has pushed the club to explore alternatives. The name that has now entered the picture is RB Leipzig's German left-back David Raum. According to the report, Raum is regarded as an "option" for United following Newcastle's refusal to sell Hall.

The 28-year-old is said to have created more chances (96) than any other player in the Bundesliga last season, with his seven assists also ranking among the division's top 20. Having provided 28 assists across all competitions over his past three seasons at Leipzig, Raum is described as an "all-action" player who often hugs the touchline before making underlapping runs and quick combinations with midfielders to advance up the pitch, with his objective in the final third being to lift his head and find a way to assist a teammate.

Germany's starting left-back at the recent World Cup, Raum is said to have played alongside current Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko during their time together at Leipzig, with the report stating: "Benjamin Sesko can vouch for the quality of Raum's crossing." With Raum entering the final year of his contract and Manchester United continuing their search for both a left-back and a third central midfielder, his emergence as a target suggests the transfer process could accelerate in the coming weeks.
