The England National Football Team has been shaken by a major theft incident ahead of the 2026 World Cup. According to information conveyed by British newspaper Daily Mail, a significant portion of the equipment that England's delegation was transporting from the West Palm Beach camp in Florida to the Swope Soccer Village base in Missouri was stolen. The incident occurred at a critical time for the England team preparing to settle into the three-week group stage base; this incident came to the agenda just hours before the first training of the team under Thomas Tuchel's management on Saturday, June 13 in Kansas City.
In the Daily Mail's report, it was emphasised that among the stolen items were the match boots of star footballers. The newspaper wrote that there is also concern about the theft of the boots of leading names of the team like Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham. Among the stolen items are official match balls of the tournament and equipment of critical importance for training. The report stated that only one ball remained inside the cargo where the equipment was transported. It was also reported that Tuchel's tactical whiteboards, player analysis devices and massage tables were among the losses. This situation may directly affect both the technical and physical preparation processes of the team.
In developments followed by the British media, it was announced that a police investigation has started regarding the incident and two people have been taken into custody. The Football Association (FA) declared that it is in close cooperation with local law enforcement and that work is ongoing to recover the stolen materials. It was stated that the team squad and technical staff had to race against time to replace the missing equipment before the first training. The sensitivity of players regarding boots draws attention; footballers prefer special pairs that they are comfortable with and that fit their feet before major tournament matches.
England spent its World Cup preparation period in Miami and during this period beat Costa Rica 3-0 and Miami FC 6-0. It is known that Tuchel was satisfied with the performance during the preparation period. However, this unexpected theft incident overshadowed the team's entry into the tournament atmosphere. England will face Croatia in their first match at the 2026 World Cup. Tuchel's team, which will stay at the Kansas City base for three weeks, will play all their group stage matches by moving from this base.
