The future of Patrick Berg, one of the architects of Norway's historic run to the World Cup quarterfinal, has landed on England's agenda. According to the exclusive report, the Bodø/Glimt captain is ready to move abroad for the second time in his career and is on the radar of five English clubs. West Ham United and Burnley are assessing a move for the player, while newly promoted Premier League trio Coventry City, Hull City and Ipswich Town are also closely monitoring the situation.
The 28-year-old defensive midfielder has just completed the finest season of his career. The brain of his team during Bodø/Glimt's Champions League run to the Round of 16, which included wins over Manchester City, Atlético Madrid and Inter, Berg then continued his rise at the World Cup. The Norwegian featured in all six of his team's matches at the tournament, started the last four, provided assists against Ivory Coast and Senegal, and played the full 120 minutes in the quarterfinal defeat to England.
Having made a total of 349 appearances across two spells for his hometown club in Bodø, Berg has a contract running until 2028. His only experience abroad was a short-lived spell at Lens in 2022; however, the player's camp believes circumstances are very different this time.
It is also reported that Berg's side is warm to English football; the player is said to believe that the physical and high-tempo nature of the game in England would suit his style perfectly. Although Bodø/Glimt are reluctant to lose one of their most influential figures, Berg is said to be ready to consider the opportunities that come his way. The Norwegian star's decision will become clear in the coming weeks.
