The British Grand Prix, one of the most exciting and unpredictable races of the 2026 Formula 1 season, was a scene of surprise-filled moments and an incredible championship battle from start to finish. In the challenging race held at the legendary Silverstone circuit, the heart of motorsport, it was Ferrari's star driver Charles Leclerc who saw the checkered flag first. Finishing under a safety car period due to incidents late in the race, the talented Monegasque driver delivered a flawless performance to secure a magnificent and highly critical victory for his team. With this win, Leclerc also claimed his first-ever victory at Silverstone.
The Ferrari team managed to dominate the podium with an incredibly strong performance. George Russell secured second place with an outstanding drive, despite being forced to make an extra, unplanned pit stop and facing a severe tire disadvantage compared to his rivals in the final stint. The experienced champion Lewis Hamilton pushed hard despite receiving a 5-second time penalty early in the race and finished third. Thus, the Ferrari team enjoyed a tremendous double podium celebration in front of their home crowd.
One of the most talked-about events of the day, which shook the championship standings, occurred in the final laps. Max Verstappen, one of the biggest and most ambitious names in the championship, lost control of his car with only a few laps remaining and suffered a heavy crash, forcing him to retire from the race. For Mercedes' pole-sitting young talent Kimi Antonelli, it was an incredibly unlucky and nightmarish day. The young driver, who started from the front of the grid following a brilliant qualifying performance and maintained a strong pace for a long time, faced a huge problem on lap 42. Forced to bring his unexpectedly damaged car into the pits, Antonelli had his front wing completely replaced. Due to this major misfortune and the resulting significant loss of time, the talented driver who started the race in the lead could only finish the race in 16th place, amidst great disappointment.
