Belgium's Zizou Bergs has won the title at the grass-court Eastbourne tournament. Beating France's Ugo Humbert 2-1 in the final of the last warm-up event before Wimbledon, Bergs lifted the first ATP Tour trophy of his career.
After losing the opening set 6-3, Bergs fought back to take the next two sets 6-1 and 6-4, coming through a contest of around two hours. The win carries special meaning for the 27-year-old, who had lost both of his previous finals in 2025; this time Bergs finally enjoyed an ATP Tour title. The trophy also lifts him to a new career-high ranking.
The tournament's sixth seed, the experienced Humbert, a multiple ATP champion, had been the favorite for the final. The Frenchman had also won the pair's only previous meeting, on hard court, but Bergs gained his revenge on grass this time. Interrupted by rain and completed across two days, the final ended thanks to the Belgian's determination.
Attention now turns to next week. By a striking coincidence, Bergs and Humbert will meet again in the first round at Wimbledon. It will be an immediate rematch of the Eastbourne final, and there will be plenty of interest in how their grass-court rivalry unfolds. Bergs will head into the season's most prestigious tournament full of confidence, while Humbert will be looking to make amends.
