While transfer activity and driver contracts are always under intense scrutiny in the World of Formula 1, all eyes have once again turned to seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton. Following the Italian giant Ferrari's recent move to secure its future by signing a new contract with Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc, attention naturally shifted to the status of the team's other star, Hamilton. The details and future of the British driver's current contract with the Italian squad remain among the most talked-about topics in the motorsport community.

Experienced driver Lewis Hamilton spoke to the press ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, clearing up speculations regarding his future and contract status. Hamilton firmly stated that he has not yet begun any discussions about extending his current contract with Ferrari. Responding to journalists' questions on whether he had sat down for a new deal, the seven-time world champion pilot emphasized, "No. There is still time for that. It’s not something I’m thinking about or talking about right now," highlighting that his current focus is entirely on on-track performance.

He Answered Retirement Rumors in Canada

It is known that Hamilton signed a "2+1 year" deal when joining Ferrari ahead of the 2025 season. As the expiration of this agreement approaches, various retirement speculations had recently emerged in the paddock, suggesting that the veteran driver might end his Formula 1 career. However, Hamilton decisively shut down these rumors during one of the recent races at the Canadian Grand Prix weekend.

Expressing his clear intention to remain on the grid in the future, Hamilton had stated that weekend, "I’ll be here for a long time." Demonstrating that he has not lost his competitive edge in Formula 1, the 39-year-old driver mentioned that his motivation and desire to win his eighth world championship—one of the biggest goals of his career—remain at the highest level.

Consequently, after Ferrari’s decision to continue with Charles Leclerc, Hamilton, whom everyone is watching closely, does not want to rush contract renewal talks. Believing there is still plenty of time before discussing a new contract with his team, the British driver is currently focused solely on the championship fight and achieving success in the red suit.
