The heat is turning up at the Wimbledon 2026 tournament. Jessica Pegula, one of the favorites for the title in women's tennis, squared off against Spanish tennis player Jéssica Bouzas Maneiro in the third round. The match, which took place on Court 2 and was a one-sided affair from start to finish, once again solidified Pegula's title aspirations in the tournament.
The American tennis player started the match with high concentration and a clear game plan. Putting the first set in her column with a crushing score of 6-1, Pegula gave her opponent no breathing room in the second set either. Winning the set 6-3 to finish the match in two, the experienced player made her dominance felt throughout the time she remained on the court. The statistics clearly support this dominance as well. Pegula achieved an incredible percentage of 79% in points won on first serve games, while her opponent stayed at only 46% in this area. Achieving a 5/8 success rate in break point statistics, Pegula made no mistakes in critical moments.
As the American racquet, who made fewer double faults (2 to 3) compared to her opponent and determined the tempo of the game, she secured her ticket to the next round by collecting a total of 58 points throughout the match. Her composure, especially when she held control of the game, places her as one of the biggest favorites for the next stages of the tournament. Despite her fighting spirit, her opponent Maneiro could not show enough resistance against Pegula's serves and bid farewell to the tournament.
