The men's singles quarter-final at the US Open, the final Grand Slam of the year, ended on an unfortunate note. The highly anticipated match between the in-form Karen Khachanov and young talent Alexander Blockx was cut short due to an injury suffered by Blockx. After 1 hour and 33 minutes of play, with Khachanov firmly in control and leading the sets, the Belgian player indicated he could not continue physically and was forced to retire. Khachanov dominated the game from the very first set, drawing attention particularly with his flawless performance in his service games. Winning an outstanding 89% of his first serve points, the Russian star gave his opponent absolutely no room to breathe. Although Blockx made a tremendous effort to stay in the match, he struggled to find his rhythm due to difficulties in his own service games and an increasing number of unforced errors. In the completed portion of the match, Khachanov produced 26 winners against 21 unforced errors, demonstrating a highly balanced and aggressive game. While Blockx's unfortunate injury saddened tennis fans, Khachanov experienced a bittersweet celebration of reaching the semi-finals.
